CREATIVE COSTING, PRICING AND SHARING YOUR WORTH
Working out what to charge for creative products and services can be a colossal challenge. Where to even start? What’s It Worth is a practical workshop that covers the basics of figuring out the price point for creative work, including calculating costs and understanding what the market can bear. What’s It Worth is vital for anyone struggling to understand the value of their own work, and how to share that value with others.  

Participants will also discuss the larger issues of:
+ Understanding budgets, including the value of time;
+ The psychology of pricing;
+ Where cost and price overlap and intersect;
+ Understanding the marketplace (and market research);
+ Creating loss leaders and more.

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO SAY NO?
How do you say no? How do you negotiate your fees, and manage your professional relationships? Communication, mediation, and conflict resolution are vital parts of running any business, but many creatives have never learned the basics. DEAL OR NO DEAL is a friendly introduction to the basics of better communication, practised in a safe environment, and specifically designed for creative professionals. It also includes practical exercises that focus on tricky clients and challenging situations using negotiation tactics, mediation, and conflict resolution. 

Tips that will be shared include:
+ The basic elements of effective communication, especially in creative business;
+ Managing negotiations, and how to think “win-win”;
+ How to say NO without freaking out;
+ Mapping conflict to reach the best resolutions;
+ Practical application of these strategies, and more resources for mediation.

Who is presenting?
Business advisor and creative industries expert Monica Davidson from the Creative Plus Business Group. Monica is a writer and filmmaker by trade who learned how to run a successful creative business and now shares that knowledge with others. In her workshops Monica discusses her own experiences, and shares examples from the 900-plus people she has mentored through the process of starting and building their creative businesses.
