General Guidelines

  1. All entries must have been commercially released prior to the close of judging for the ASSG Awards in any given year. For the 2025 Awards, this period is 1st June 2024 – 1st August 2025.
“Commercially released” can mean different things in each category, so please check the breakdown below for more details.
  2.  The same project must not have been previously entered into the ASSG Awards. This includes any episode from the same season of a series that has already been entered previously.
  3. All entries for the ASSG Awards must be submitted via our online entry form. We will not accept entries that are not made through our online entry system.
  4. The majority (over 50%) of the sound must either have been worked on in Australia or by Australians (citizens or permanent residents). If entering into a craft category, that craft must also be majority Australian.
  5. All projects entered must be screen based, where moving images are linked to the soundscape.
  6. The person submitting the entry must be a financial member of the ASSG. For Craft categories, a financial member of the ASSG is required in that craft for each category entered.
  7. The person submitting the entry will be responsible for all information submitted and alterations to the original entry will only be accepted at the discretion of the ASSG Awards Sub-Committee.
  8. The ASSG will only accept one (1) entry form per project, so please consult with your Sound Supervisor, or equivalent colleague, to ensure you haven’t forgotten any names before submitting an entry.  It is important that all names are included on the entry form. Please don’t submit an entry if you are not able to submit all the relevant names accurately. If multiple entries are made for the same project, the project entered first will be the one used.
  9. The ASSG will use the spelling of names as listed on the entry form for any press releases, nomination certificates, trophies, or any other correspondence related to the ASSG Awards.
  10. The ASSG takes no responsibility for any errors in the spelling of names submitted through the online entry form. Please ensure that all names on the entry are spelled correctly.
  11. All entrants must complete all required form sections including department breakdown details and project details for judges consideration. This will assist the judges during the judging process.
  12. If there are fewer than five (5) entries in any category no nominees or winners will be awarded in that category. Projects entered into a category that has fewer than 5 entries may be merged into a similar category, or be eligible for the following year’s awards if no merge category is available.
  13. The number of nominees in any given category will be determined by the ASSG, and be reflective of the number of entries in that category.
  14. The ASSG reserves the right to change the category a project is entered into if it is deemed necessary.
  15. The ASSG reserves the right to reject any entries which don’t meet our eligibility criteria without further consultation.

  17. Entry submissions or media received after the closing date will be invalid.
